Ouch
- Karen Torell-Hoffman, Beverly Hartmeyer and Joseph Apodaca like this.
- Betsy Brandel I had my Gibson in the shop a few weeks ago and had to use my "other" banjo for a few days. It wasn't as bad as I thought. You will probably appreciate your spare while the other one is being fixed.
- Stacey Maxwell Some of the guys I jam with make it a rule to put their instrument in the case when not in use, for this reason. I had a lady also tell me that her husband a luthier makes her transport their instruments always in the case, even just walking from one room to the next,, as she said they have seen way too many damaged instruments come back broke even over the most casual incident. Sorry for your loss...
- Lori Holt Wade Check for NAMM sales. Word is that they get their NAMM stock in March and April so they are thinning the inventory now.

Nice Nice Day even if I'm nuts
Tips from Dana Point Farmer's Market. The guy next to me was selling Free Range Chicken Eggs. Anything over 30 bucks is a good day. They want me back for next Saturday. I got there and found my tuner dead in the water. I was out of tune and after fiddling with it for 20 minutes, I got it somewhere that it sounded all right to play except for an A chord. Played three hours with something slightly out of kelter. Who knows what key I was in. Everybody liked me. My hand was shook. As long as it sounds semi-ok, its a banjo after all. I was asking everyone I saw if they played. I was hoping someone might walk by that could tune by ear.
Anyway.
Anyway.

Really?
Keri,
I thought about paying $100.00 for a stage spot on Venice Beach for a Festival, but that was an hour as I understood it. How about you keep the $10.00 coupon and give me a 40 minute set for $30.00. I played 3 hours in front of 200 people in Westchester the first Friday of January and made $20.00 in tips and didn't pay anything. I play every first Sunday every month in San Clemente for 5 hours and there's about 100 people passing by and I make a few bucks and I don't pay anything. I can do a Farmers Market in Long Beach for three hours and make it home with $80.00, explain your logic to me again? I do clubs at night and don't have to pay. How again are you going to make me famous? I'm going to get my name printed on a list? I have a permit that allows me to busk at the outside Santa Monica things. It costs $45.00 a year- I can go anytime and wait my turn and play for at least 200 people. I have 5500 hits on my You Tube Channel- how are you gonna make me famous?

I can do this for free for up to 3 hours on a Friday night. Why would I want to pay you for a 4 song set? And I have my own sound.
