More Eggs More Money

Ouch

So halfway through the gig in San Clemente, I set the poor thing down on the stand I got, got up, hooked the strap with my foot and threw the poor thing face down on the sidewalk. It broke off the the top bridge on my first string. Fooling aroung with it, the only thing to do was to pull the first string over to the second notch and retune. The only problem was playing anything above the fifth fret because the strings were too close. So I'm looking for easy four chord songs because I can bar chord the C and the D up the neck- and the A & B worked as bar chords/ So at the end of the day, a 12-year old comes over who plays guitar and writes her own songs and wants to know if playing the banjo is mostly bar chords. I showed her my poor banjo neck. I could have used all those triads I was supposed to be learning. Guess what I'm working on now. McCabe's in the morning for getting him fixed.

Nice Nice Day even if I'm nuts

Tips from Dana Point Farmer's Market. The guy next to me was selling Free Range Chicken Eggs. Anything over 30 bucks is a good day. They want me back for next Saturday. I got there and found my tuner dead in the water. I was out of tune and after fiddling with it for 20 minutes, I got it somewhere that it sounded all right to play except for an A chord. Played three hours with something slightly out of kelter. Who knows what key I was in. Everybody liked me. My hand was shook. As long as it sounds semi-ok, its a banjo after all. I was asking everyone I saw if they played. I was hoping someone might walk by that could tune by ear.
Anyway.

This one turned out cool- another of Betsy's Pics of me.

Pure Silliness

Well, have a long long video from playing last month at The Westchester First Friday Food Truck thingee and so I thought I might creat a longer introduction video to me- sort of a silly bio. I spent the entire day on Monday creating these to put in a large sized album with some other photos and then film turning the pages with a voice over. Sos the titles are "First Banjo" "First Dog" "Learning To Swim"and "Saturday Morning Cartoons"

Really?

Keri,

I thought about paying $100.00 for a stage spot on Venice Beach for a Festival, but that was an hour as I understood it. How about you keep the $10.00 coupon and give me a 40 minute set for $30.00. I played 3 hours in front of 200 people in Westchester the first Friday of January and made $20.00 in tips and didn't pay anything. I play every first Sunday every month in San Clemente for 5 hours and there's about 100 people passing by and I make a few bucks and I don't pay anything. I can do a Farmers Market in Long Beach for three hours and make it home with $80.00, explain your logic to me again? I do clubs at night and don't have to pay. How again are you going to make me famous? I'm going to get my name printed on a list? I have a permit that allows me to busk at the outside Santa Monica things. It costs $45.00 a year- I can go anytime and wait my turn and play for at least 200 people. I have 5500 hits on my You Tube Channel- how are you gonna make me famous?

Dan

I can do this for free for up to 3 hours on a Friday night. Why would I want to pay you for a 4 song set? And I have my own sound.
