Sos, I decided to replace the twenty year carpet in my studio. It was worn and torn and coming apart at the seams and after a few years of musicians spilling beer on it (me included) I decided it was time. I called folks in to give me quotes. Everyone wanted 5k to 7 k to do it. I looked at the cost and realized if I did it myself it would cost about a thousand. So here's what it looked like before:
I had one of the bears draw a picture on the sub-floor before we had the carpet laid. I thought his twin sister had drawn one too, but I couldn't find it. It might have been replaced when I had to do some water damage repair in a couple of places. The bear now:
The drawing which covered up intact again:
Assorted thing I rediscovered: All the college baseball caps I supported over the years: USC, The Sorbonne, Bard At Simon's Rock, Chapman University, Stevens Institute of Technology.
I consolidated and cleaned out books no longer needed for my biography of Helena De Kay Gilder when I'm in a wheelchair and can't do anything else. Check out the Web site http://helenadekaygilder.org/
So this is the way it looks now.
Got rid of all of my CDs, the music was all ripped and on a hard drive as I went over the years. Kept these for a lamp table
And the last but not least, the door I had to custom cut to make fit: 35 3/4" by 6' 6"Did it slow and carefully with a hand saw.
